Biological air scrubbers are designed to effectively filter harmful emissions, such as ammonia, odor and particulate matter, from the air trough a natural biological process.
The operation of Strocon Agro's biological air scrubber
Ammonia emissions (including odor and dust emissions) are reduced by treating the ventilation air in a combined air scrubber system. This is an installation that is composed of several washing systems. First, the air is optimally distributed over the entire infeed area. Then the contaminated air passes through a filter with fill material, over which washing liquid is sprayed continuously. Bacteria on the filler material and in the washing liquid transform the ammonia into nitrite and/ or nitrate, after which these substances are discharged with the effluent. The treated air then leaves the installation through a droplet trap.
The washing liquid is collected in the water collection tank containing filter material. From this collection tank, the water is recirculated and returned to the nozzles.
